home

It's good to be home. It's nice to feel at home. I used to love going out to a cafe or library or bookstore, just to get out of the house, sit somewhere, and read or knit or peoplewatch. But it's funny -- now I'd rather stay home. (Most of the time. I still have my moments where I need to "get out". But there's definitely been a shift in my activities.) Tonight I had dinner at home and then was debating whether to take my textbook over to Boulder to read... or just stay here. I ended up going out for a vanilla macadamia nut cafe au lait -- without the textbook or knitting -- and coming back home. I suppose sooner or later the really cold weather will hit and sitting by the fireplace at Boulder will be more appealing than sitting here to catch up on homework, but for now, I'm enjoying my sofa in my house.

It still feels weird to think that I partially own this house. It's totally by default, because of who I married. But I'll take it. With him here, and me here, it's a nice home. We could live in a cave or a tree house, we'd still be happy together.

The cold weather. I cannot believe it is October. Seems like I was just surviving Legislative Day... and now we need to gear up for the next one. But I'm not focusing on Leg Day yet. First, I've gathered up some girlfriends and we're heading to the Finger Lakes region for grape pie. Oh, grape pie... what an amazing annual delicacy. How could I not have discovered you until I was in my 30's??? My family is soooooo sheltered. Of course, there will be leaf peeping, as well, although it's not quite peak season yet for the leaves. There are usually the beginnings of oranges and golds around the same time as grape pie season. I'm totally loving the sweater-weather.

There is a new movie out called It Might Get Loud! And guess who is in it!!! The Edge. It's a documentary type flick about rock-n-roll guitar players. The Edge!! And Sweet P is talking about going to see the flick on Saturday when I'll be shopping for grape pie. I think I might have convinced him to wait until Sunday, but it depends upon the buddy he emailed about going to the movie. I just might have to call my U2-fan friend and go see the movie with her, if he's gonna play like that. But I love him anyway.
