catching glimpses

As I was driving to work this morning, it started sprinkling rain. Through the rain, I saw glimpses of a rainbow to the north. I would see it now and then, as my car was headed in the right direction, catching the rainbow at the right angles. So pretty. It made me smile.

It is similar to catching glimpses of God in random, everyday life. At least for me, it isn't like I feel Him or see Him everyday, in everything that I'm doing. I catch glimpses of Him now and then, enough to remind me that He is always there.

I see His joy when someone gets saved. I see His care in rainbows and songbirds. I feel His reassurance when I'm reading the Bible. I feel His comfort when I'm hurting and cry out to Him. I see His love in other people.

I see all of these little bits and pieces, and it doesn't take long for the whole picture to begin to come together. I won't know Him completely until I'm in heaven someday, but I know enough to know that He is real, He is good, He is holy, He is love.
