wooly sweater
A couple pictures of the dog modeling his dog sweater. I am very pleased with this finished product, although it certainly could be a little better. I made a small version of this sweater for a small dog. That one fit perfectly. This one, I had to calculate how much bigger to make it, because the pattern didn't go big enough for a greyhound. It's pretty good, although could be a little snugger around the neck... a bit more "tailored" perhaps. I added buttons, instead of sewing fixed "arm holes", to accommodate his long legs. The button toggles may need altering. Maybe double buttons would have been better.
Overall, it turned out well, and the dog loves it. I have word from his owner that he doesn't want to take it off, even in the house. And he will lay on the floor with his head resting on the sweater sometimes. So sweet. I'm glad he likes it. There is one other dog in my life who is so incredibly blessed with fur, and loves the snowy winters, that she doesn't need a sweater at all. This thin-haired greyhound is the total opposite of that. And he loves his sweater!
