the happy triplets

These are "the triplets". That's what I always called them when I walked by in the morning to head to my car. This rose bush came with the house, but it typically hasn't had many roses bloom because little bugs eat them when they're just buds. But this month, we've had quite a few blooms survive. Sweet P has been diligent to dust the bush with an anti-bug powder and when the little green aphid type things attacked, he sprayed them with dish soap. Hey, it worked! (He is a librarian, after all. He has ways of finding these things.)

There were some pretty blooms higher up, and these three popped all together on a lower branch. They were beautiful. Until the storm came.

Last Friday, a storm blew through town, leaving hail in some parts and ponds in other parts. At our house, it blew down the roses. They're gone. *sniff* ... gone too soon.

My tomato plant appears to be surviving. I fear that it may be getting too much water, with all the rain we've had lately, but thus far it is still alive and kicking. It has little blossoms, which promise tomatoes to come! I hope!

I cropped the first picture with Photoshop. Aggravating -- but -- I'm learning. It looks blurry, but the original did not. I'm not sure why that is or what to do about it. I'll probably ask Paul.

My sister is leaving today... any time now... to go to Ireland. Mission trip to County Kerry: VBS, street ministry, prayer walking and supporting the local church there. I'm going to try to remember to pray for the team every day. Sometimes I can be such a slacker, and that's not good. I think having children has caused her (my sis) to really think deeper about spiritual things. I hope this opportunity in Ireland will really build her faith & encourage her even deeper into the Lord & the Word.
