I set a personal record today. I ran the local 10K "turkey trot" with a friend who was running it for the first time. She thought that she would run and I would run and we'd just meet up at the end. I thought I should run with her and encourage her, so that's what I did. I guess we could have communicated better, but this girl friend is definitely a social butterfly, and I think the camaraderie was good for her. Needless to say, she was victorious in finishing the race, and I finished with my slowest 10K time ever. But you know what? It was all good. I had fun. I'm so proud of her and I know she's proud of herself.

Since today is all about thankfulness, I am not going to gripe about how holidays kill me slowly. I'm not going to whine that a friend is down in NYC on 7th Ave. and I am stuck here. I won't even complain about my toes feeling like little icicles at the moment. Let me focus on the good things, let me get in the spirit of the holiday.

Thank you, God, for a healthy body, that I can run 6 miles in an hour and a half! Thank you, God for your grace in dealing with humankind, that you have forgiven my sin and loved me in my unloveableness. Thank you, God, for my sweet husband. He is a treasure. Thank you, God, that my brother made the drive safely from FL. Thank you, God, for the rest of the fam (please fill everyone's hearts with peace and cheer that this will be a pleasant afternoon).
