laughing at myself - april showers???

I woke up early-ish Saturday and was very excited to try a 3-miler. I've been doing 1.5-2.0 miles lately, so 3 would be stretching me. I peeked out the window -- not raining. yay! I peeked at the thermometer -- not too cold. yay! I laced up and headed out.

As I ran, the temp dropped and the rain started. The wind whipped around me, and the rain turned to sleet pellets. The first part of my route was a mostly eastern direction and at a certain point, I turned and headed home in a mostly western direction. Ouch. At this point, the wind was freezing me and the sleet pellets were stinging my face and eyes. Not a happy experience at all.

Finally, I gave up. This was too much punishment for me. I found refuge by a brick office building and called my honey. He was willing to come in the car to rescue me. I probably only accomplished about 2 of the 3 miles. Better than nothing, I guess.

I'm such a wimp!
Thank God for cell phones!
And thank God for my Sweet P. My hero!!

And tomorrow, my next running day, is supposed to be a snow storm. I might be doing 2 miles on the "dread mill" at the gym instead of the park or the university. It depends if this storm brings wind and sleet. If it is just normal chilly and snowflakes, I like running in that. I'll wear enough layers and my sneaks with extra traction, and it'll be great. But that windy, sleety stuff is nasty. Nasty, nasty. Ick.
